Evropa
So I’m back in Europe for a bit. Really enjoying the places I’ve been seeing so far. Prague, Bratislava, Salzburg and Budapest. Well we went to Vienna too, but I’m not counting it. I’m currently in Budapest, it’s a very, very beautiful city. I also get to travel with one of my awesome sisters, Annika. So here’s hoping these next three months are fantastic!

Take the new Vimeo for a spin →
What’s so new about the new Vimeo? In short: pretty much everything. We made zillions of improvements that cover the front end, the back end, and the parts in between to create a Vimeo that is bigger, faster, smarter, and more fun…
Vimeo has the right idea about web design. Putting the content first.

It's more likely that I was doing 911km/h [click] →
For me to have traveled from Porirua to the foot of the Bombay Hills just out of Auckland by six thirty, I would had to have crawled into the first car in the hospital parking lot and headed for Auckland at around 1,000 km/h. For this reason, it is entirely possible that the constable who clocked me back in 1974 was holding his laser equipment upside down and instead of doing 116 km/h...

if this then that →
Today I stumbled across a wonderful website. ifttt- which stands for “if this then that”- is a website that allows you to aggregate different web services and create “scripts,” essentially allowing you to use data from one service that you’re part of, for example; Facebook, and send that data to another service, such as Dropbox.
There are already heaps of useful...

Extraordinary and spontaneous tributes to Jack Layton have been chalked on every square inch of Nathan Phillips Square, outside City Hall in Toronto. One reads: “We will not lose hope and we will not shut up.”
Jack Layton’s last words instilled a wonderful thing into many Canadian’s hearts.

– I was just editing my profile on Vimeo because I wanted to change the email address that I used to log in and I discovered this. I created my Vimeo account in September of 2008 with this “biography,” and at that time, travelling to Europe and New Zealand seemed like they were just hollow...

Recurrence
Does the recurrence of a word in a body of text dictate it’s importance?
I’ve noticed, on several occasions, the recurrence of words being used as evidence in a message. If an author decides to use the word “love” 200 times in a book, does that make it the most important theme in the book? Perhaps the book is about love, perhaps the book is not. I think we should read...

I know it was never gone, but it appears they’re trying to make an advancement in the world of social networks. Kudos to them for not giving up.

The “Grace Young Adults” worship team did an INCREDIBLE job of this song at Saturday Night Grace, I was really blessed by them. (and honoured to do sound :)

My Life in Pictures (and maybe video)
The other day (two Wednesdays ago I believe), I noticed that Smoking Apples had a link to an iOS app called Instagram. It looked decent so I figured I’d check it out.
The app wasn’t really anything special, it seems like it’s just trying to be another new social network, and failing miserably- because, of course, we know that the only “real” social networks are...

Chapter X
So, today I began preparing to move out and go off to school. I’ve never actually moved, ever. Interesting.. It was my final day of work at Something Digital yesterday, which made me sad, and was difficult to leave. I’m going to miss working there, the customers, my coworkers, and all of the exciting new technology (although I’m certainly going to keep up with that :)
I’m...

It spoils the fun of it, you don’t need to share the stories with people in person when you return home. Which is why I merely stated my next destination.

Toodlethings Extension
Safari 5 was released yesterday, with an update including support for extensions, something called Safari Reader (a great way to look at articles distraction-free, kind of like an instant view of an Instapaper’d article), hardware-acceleration for Windows and a couple more features I don’t remember.
I figured I’d try to get a bit ahead of the game and create an extension of my...
